Information below is provided to The Recorder by the Porterville Police Department. It is noted that only arrests are reported and the suspects have not been found guilty of any crime.

Warrant Arrest
Officers were dispatched to Morton Avenue and Prospect Street regarding a male subject yelling at passing vehicles. Officers arrived and contacted Miguel Martinez-Velasco, who had a warrant for his arrest. Velasco was arrested for his warrant and later booked into the TCSO Main Jail.
Under the Influence of a Controlled Substace/ Resist Arrest by Force, Violence / Assault on a Peace Officer
Officers responded to Long John Silvers regarding a male subject, Jose Romero, 32, who had attempted to open a subject’s car door. Officers contacted Romero and determined he was under the influence of a controlled substance. While at the hospital preparing for a blood test, Romero became belligerent, non-compliant and combative while two lab technicians were in the room. Romero was non-compliant with officers’ instructions and was violent. A taser was utilized; however, he continued to resist officers with force and yanked the taser prongs out of his chest. With the assistance of additional officers, Romero was secured and taken out to a patrol vehicle, where a blood draw and his medical clearance took place. Romero was subsequently booked into the TCSO Main Jail for the above listed charges.
Vehicle Burglary
Officers responded to The Holy Cross Church regarding a vehicle burglary. The victim stated that while she was in church a suspect shattered the rear passenger window of her vehicle and stole her purse.
