PC plans pre-health conference for April

“Let us Dream, Let Us Rise, Let Us Heal” is the theme for a Pre-Health Conference being offered from 2 to 6 p.m. April 4 at Porterville College, 100 E. College Ave.

During the conference, students will receive first-hand information from local physicians and nurses about the individual journeys each took in realizing their health-career goal.

Cosponsored by Porterville College Chicanos/Latinos for Community Medicine and University of California Los Angeles MEDPEP, the conference will provide information on appropriate course paths to follow.

Among the presenters will be Dr. Eric Madrigal, Dr. Joel Ramirez, and Dr. Navarro — all home-grown physicians from Tulare County. UCLA will also provide students with information on premed summer programs geared toward the transition from the community college to the four-year university.

Chicanos/Latinos for Community Medicine is a student organization at Porterville College comprised of students pursuing a professional medical career.High school juniors and seniors interested in attending the conference must obtain permission from his or her high school.

Permission forms are available at the time of online registration.

All students — high school and college — must register at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/CCMPortervillePreHealthConference.

Parents are welcome to attend. There is no registration cost and walk-in registration will be accepted.
