Snow closes I-5 over Grapevine

LOS ANGELES — The California Highway Patrol has shut down the Grapevine section of Interstate 5, where icy conditions, freezing rain and dropping temperatures have already caused several fender-benders on the steep roads.
The main link between central and southern California was closed about 4:30 p.m. Friday. It was not known when it would be reopened.
Officer J.C. Lesnet says snowfall may reach as low as 2,000 feet in the area Friday, creating treacherous driving conditions on the highway.
