Man accused of child molestation turns self in

Porterville resident John Menchaca, 24, accused of sexually assaulting two children, was arrested Tuesday after turning himself in.

Menchaca is being held on suspicion of multiple sexual assault charges including sodomy and lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14.  

The Porterville Police Department reports that on Dec. 23, 2012, they were contacted by a 15-year-old girl who alleged that Menchaca had sexually assaulted her two months prior and had assaulted her previously.

After investigating the case, detectives found an additional 14-year-old victim who reported that Menchaca had sodomized her when she was about 6 years old.

Menchaca was booked into the into the custody of the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department.
