Planetarium Show — The Explorers — will be at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 18. The planetarium dome is used to identify constellations, to observe what daily motion can tell us about way-finding. The Planetarium is located in the Educational Enrichment Center on the southwest corner of West Main Street and Woodland Drive in Visalia.

MHS Choral Department will be presenting its Annual Spring Concert — In tribute to the British invasion at 7 p.m., doors will open at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, May 18 at the Frank “Buck” Shaffer Theatre inside the Porterville Memorial Auditorium. Tickets on sale at the door for $5, no pre-sale. The Choral department will perform songs from song writers and artists from Great Britain. This is one of MHS Choral Department’s biggest performances of the year, with several solos and group performances. Cancer Survivor’s Day Celebration from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 18 at Grand Avenue United Methodist Church. The Porterville Breakfast Rotary Club, Sierra View District Hospital and the Roger S. Good Cancer Treatment Center celebrate National Cancer Survivor’s Day. Cancer survivors and a guest are invited to attend this educational celebration featuring dinner and raffle prizes. The Strathmore High School class of 1992 will be celebrating its 20-year class reunion and invites the classes of 1990, 1991, 1993 and 1994 to join them. The Dinner and Dance will be held at Loya Ranch in Lindsay on May 20 starting at 6 p.m. Ticket cost is $25 if purchased before May 1. Concerts in the Park series in Springville featuring Beach Band will be from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, May 25 in downtown Springville at the Veterans Memorial Park. Bring a chair or a blanket, but please leave the dog at home. Concerts are scheduled every two weeks on Friday evenings.
The Women’s Ministry of the First Southern Baptist Church (FSBC) will hold its Daughter’s of the King luncheon at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday May 26 at 1461 W. Henderson Ave., Porterville.
Admission is free, but a ticket is required for entry. Tickets must be picked up by Tuesday May 22. All women are welcome. Free tickets can be picked up from the church office at 1641 W. Henderson Ave. or call Glenda Powell at 781-3607.
Tickets are now available for the Porterville Historical Museum’s Annual Wine and Hors d’oeuvres Party at 6 p.m. on June 2.
Attendees will be entertained by The Monache Jazz Band; silent auction items will be available as will wine, soft drinks and hors d’oeuvres.
