PC women fall to Merced

Porterville College lost to Central Valley Conference power Merced in the consolation title game of the Mike Gervasoni Memorial Classic at DeAnza Community College. PC was plagued by foul trouble as two of its post players, Maribel Bravo and Jeidi Gutierrez sat out most of the first half with three fouls.

PC was outrebounded 43-34, but PC coach Dave Kavern said his team continued to do a solid job taking care of the ball as it did on Friday in a 66-63 win over Skyline. “We did a better job the last two games protecting the ball,” he said.

Alia Alvarez had 11 points and three assists, Destiny Zarate had six points and seven rebounds and Eva Gutierrez scored six points for PC.
