Pirates' struggles continue

A woeful shooting night led to another loss for the Porterville College men’s basketball team Saturday night at home.

The Pirates remain winless on the season after a 86-62 Central Valley Conference loss to West Hills.

Porterville (0-18, 0-7 CVC) shot 20 percent (7-for-35) from the field in the first half and fell behind 38-23 at the half. The Pirates improved in the second half hitting 12-of-32 and cut the lead to 57-49 with 10 minutes remaining, before the Falcons (10-11, 4-3 CVC) extended back to a comfortable lead.

West Hills’ Corey Davis was a perfect 10-for-10 from the field, finishing with game-highs of 22 points and 12 rebounds. The Falcons made 55 percent of their shots for the game and had four players score in double figures.

Porterville had four players score in double figures led by Juddon Carter with 16, followed by

Joseph Yarbrough with 13, Tyrone Hall with 11 and Dominc Avila with 10.
