Harmony Magnet Academy celebrated Performing Arts Week with a couple of unique programs.
Last week several students participated in an audition process called “Harmony’s Got Talent.”
The students showcased their talents at lunch time in front of the student body and a panel of judges.
On Thursday, the week was culminated with an impressionist — Peter M. Small, performing as United States President Franklin D. Roosevelt.
“We wanted to bring realism to the performance of the actor because many of our students are in the process of studying that particular era of history,” said school Principal Jeff Brown. “Therefore, we had the impressionist come. He offered a 45-minute monologue on the policies of the time of Franklin D. Roosevelt.”
In addition, Small, in the role of U.S. president, also read a presidential proclamation — honoring the performing arts academy on becoming a Certified Linked Learning Pathway by ConnectEd. A plaque, and banner, announcing the certification was presented to instructor Joel Buringrud.
