Fechner Player of the Week for COS

 

FECHNER PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Granite Hills graduate Emily Fechner, a freshman at College of the Sequoias, was named as the Central Valley Conference’s co-Player of the Week with Merced’s Kortani Brown in women’s basketball for last week. On Saturday, Fechner had a game-high 21 points and 14 rebounds to lead COS to a 62-55 win over Porterville College. Earlier in the week, Fechner also had 15 points and nine rebounds in a 60-50 loss to Taft.
Meanwhile, the PC men’s basketball team finds itself in a wide open race for a state playoff berth in the CVC. COS, West Hills and PC are all tied for second at 4-3 in the CVC behind 7-0 Fresno City. Columbia is one game back at 3-4. The CVC’s second place team will clinch a spot in the state playoffs and the third place team may earn a state playoff berth as well.
PC faces another key CVC game when it travels to Columbia today for a 5 p.m. contest.
