PC volleyball sweeps Columbia
The Porterville College volleyball team remained perfect in Central Valley Conference play after Friday night’s 3-0 victory over visiting Columbia.
The Pirates won 25-10, 25-13 and 25-21 to improve to 5-0 in the CVC and 12-4 overall. Porterville will play at West Hills Wednesday and host Fresno City on Oct. 12 in match-up of the conferences top two teams.
Leading Porterville on Friday night was Nayeli Colunga with 13 kills, nine digs, two blocks and three assists.
Amanda Monge added 12 kills, seven digs and three aces. Allison Clem had nine kills, two aces and five digs. Setter Samantha Sawyer had 24 assists and three aces.
“We played pretty consistent the first two games,” PC coach Dale Henderson said. “We were down 21-18 in the third game, called a timeout and after that got it going again.”
