Taxes in Porterville

Editor,
This morning, out of necessity, we bought fuel/gasoline. We were not happy about what we had to pay. At $4.35 per gallon I decided to see how much of that was taxes. According to CaliforniaGasPrices.com  the “Other Taxes” columns include a 2.25% state sales tax for gasoline and at least a 1.25% local sales tax. That would be $1.37 per gallon in taxes only.

The news this morning said the price of gas is going up, that means more in taxes. With the election coming up the propositions want us to vote to increase taxes: The school bond for Porterville United School District; the elected governor of our state wants more tax money to waste (Prop 30) and  Molly Munger’s tax increase (Prop 38).

Voters, read all the propositions very carefully, for goodness sake, if it means more taxes, use your head and don’t say yes to that. We are Taxed Enough Already (TEA Party’s motto).

Besides the tax increases in taxes in our city and state we must not forget the new Federal Taxes coming our way if Obama is re-elected. The Supreme Court ruled “ObamaCare” a tax.

For all those who think this will be “free” health care, you don’t know what is in it. Can you read? Please read up on these things. We are taxed enough already.

To find out more about taxes on our ballots, please join us at a Porterville Patriots TEA Party meeting.
