PC volleyball beats Taft in five
Porterville College (9-1 in Central Valley Conference) completed its season sweep of Taft College, taking three of five games 23-25, 25-23, 20-25, 25-20, 15-13. The win guarantees PC at least a second-place finish on the year.
“We went five with Taft last time. We’re ranked No. 6 and they’re ranked like No. 8,” said PC Coach Dale Henderson. “We knew it would be tight, and we won with home court advantage.”
Amanda Monge had 28 kills, 16 digs and a single ace, Nayeli Colunga posted 16 kills, 19 digs and was 18-of-19 on service, Allison Clem had 14 kills, one assist, 20 digs and a single ace, Samantha Sawyer scored a single kill, had five digs, 55 assists and one ace, Kacey Markarian had 17 digs and a pair of aces, and Danielle Carrillo had four kills, 13 digs and a single solo
block.
The win moves PC to 9-1 in conference play and 16-5 overall.
PC will host College of the Sequoias at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 31.
