Woman, child injured in near head-on collision
A woman and child were hospitalized Wednesday after the vehicle they were in collided nearly head-on with another.
The crash happened at about 4:45 p.m. at Avenue 160 (West Henderson Avenue) and Road 208.
According to the California Highway Patrol, an SUV traveling east on Avenue 160 collided nearly head-on with a second SUV traveling west on the same road.
Initial reports indicated the woman and child were pinned inside the vehicle. Fire personnel had to remove the SUV’s roof to extricate the woman.
The woman, who was driving the eastbound SUV, sustained major injuries and was taken to a hospital via air ambulance that landed at the crash scene. The child suffered moderate injuries and was transported to the hospital by ground ambulance.
The driver of the westbound SUV was not injured.
