A Citrus High School student has been named Porterville Rotary’s Student of the Month for February.

Andrew “Drew” Alvarado, son of Vincent and Billie Alvarado, is a senior at Citrus High.

“It is a pleasure having Andrew attend Citrus High School,” school officials said. “He is a conscientious student who has been a positive influence on our campus.”

Alvarado is described as a self-motivated student who works hard to get ahead in school, and as a result will be graduating early.

While at Citrus, Alvarado participated on the Citrus High basketball, football, softball and volleyball teams.

“He has shown himself as a leader and role model for the other players,” school officials said.
Alvarado helped lead Citrus High to two volleyball championships and one softball championship.

A ping-pong “wizard,” Alvarado also won Citrus High School’s annual table tennis tournament last year.

After high school, Alvarado plans to move to Napa Valley and attend community college while learning the hotel and resort business from his uncle.

“The staff and students at Citrus High School congratulate Alvarado on his accomplishments and wish him the best in his future,” school officials said.
