Vincent Cody Steen
Vincent Cody Steen a lifetime Porterville resident was born in Lindsay, California to parents David and Cathy Steen. He passed away at home on January 10, 2010. He was 26.
Vincent is survived by his parents David Vincent Steen and Cathy Connor, brother Randy Steen, sister Carly Steen, Grandmothers Clara Steen and Wanda Connor, Uncle Jeff Steen and wife Patricia, Aunt Gail Brown, Great Uncle Ed Maberto and wife Emily, Great Uncle Vincent Maberto and wife Alvia, Great Uncle Carlton CoPass and wife Marlene, Great Aunt Derinda Goodson and husband Johnnie. He is also survived by numerous other family members and many friends who are as close as family.
He was preceded in death by his Grandfather Robert "Buddy" Self, Step-Grandfather Ralph Steen, Grandfather Stan Connor and Uncles Mark Steen and Rick Steen.
After graduating from Porterville High School, Vincent learned the firewood cutting trade from his Grandfather, Stan Connor. He was always interested in continuing to learn and better himself. He had at one time been a volunteer fire fighter and he completed Wild Land Fire Fighting certification. Vincent was passionate about many things, some of which were art, nutrition, physical fitness and gardening. Most important to him was the love of family, friends, and his pets.
Vincent had a newfound love for God. In fact, his most recent accomplishment that he was most proud of was that he had completed reading the entire Holy Bible.
A graveside service will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park on Friday, January 15, 2010 at 2:30 pm.
Vincent was loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
A gathering to share in memories of Vincent's life will be held at the Grand Ave. United Methodist Church located at 776 West Grand Ave. This will be immediately following the service.
