Trio of South County men graduate CHP academy

SACRAMENTO — Three South County locals were be sworn in to the California Highway Patrol on Friday morning.

They are members of the largest graduating class in academy history. Los Angeles Chief of Police William J. Bratton swore in the 183 officers at the CHP Academy in West Sacramento, the CHP reports.

The graduates from the area are Eulogio Ceja and Jaime Cervantes from Delano, and Dustin Mitchell from Exeter.

Three other officers from Visalia were also inducted. Family members were scheduled to pin badges on the graduates during the two-hour ceremony.

They began the academy Feb. 2 along with 231 other hopefuls — 48 of whom did not finish.
