Monache soccer takes Corcoran by storm

THE PORTERVILLE RECORDER

Three opponents and the rain couldn’t stand in the way of Monache girls’ soccer taking home the crown for last weekend’s Corcoran Tournament.

Katie Onsurez, assisted by Maria West, scored a goal and Aren Bravo ripped the ball away from Hanford’s goalkeeper to score another and beat the Bullpups, 2-1, in the first game.

Nadya Kasimoff scored on a penalty kick and Bravo, assisted by Elizabeth Bomez, scored another to shut out Woodlake, 2-0 in the day’s second game.

In the final game, Monache sank Roosevelt, 3-1. Gomez scored twice and West scored a third on a corner kick.

West and Briana Gomez each had an assist for the Marauders, who improved to 6-2-1.

Monache visits Granite Hills at 4:30 p.m., today.
