Porterville man found with weapon

A 19-year-old Porterville resident was arrested Thursday night after he was found to be in possession of a fixed blade knife, authorities report.
Jamie Silva was riding a bicycle near the 200 block of North Third Street, an area where a recent rash of vehicle burglaries have occurred. A Porterville Police Department officer thought Silva looked suspicious, so she stopped Silva and found the alleged knife hidden in his pants, authorities report.
He was booked into the Tulare County Main Jail on suspicion of possessing a dangerous weapon.
