Brent L. Scranton, born October 7, 1956, died Wednesday, the 23rd of July, 2008 at the age of 51. 

Brent was born in Porterville and graduated from Porterville High School in 1975.  He attended Porterville College, the College of the Sequoias and Cal Poly, Pomona. He was a long time employee of the City of Porterville’s Department of Public Works as a Building Inspector.

A beloved husband and father, he is survived by Kerri Scranton, his wife of 22 years; and daughter, Lisel. Other survivors include mother Loretta Scranton; sister Janice Laity; mother-in-law Barbetta Nairn; and many more family members.

He is preceded in death by his father Wilbert G. Scranton and father-in-law Robert Nairn. 

Brent was very active in 4-H in his youth and later was involved with the American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Porterville. 

Brent’s hobbies included golfing, collecting fishing lures and walking his two border collies, Midnight and Jae. Last summer, Brent realized his dream of visiting his maternal grandmother’s birthplace in Germany with Kerri and Lisel.

Brent will be deeply missed.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on July 28, 2008 at Vandalia Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory to the American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Porterville.
