Roy Eugene Rockholt
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Roy Eugene Rockholt age 77 and a native of Porterville passed away September 19, 2009 in Porterville.
Roy was born March 15, 1932 in Porterville to James & Nellie Rockholt and was a 1950 graduate of Porterville High School. He was inducted into the U.S. Army in 1953 and served overseas in the Korean Conflict reaching the rank of Corporal before returning to Porterville after being Honorably Discharged in 1955. Roy left the Porterville area when he worked 30 years as a Line Operator for the Kellogg Cereal Co. in San Leandro, CA but returned to Porterville when he retired in 1986. He was very active in the Porterville community and served as; President of the Helping Hands Day Bell Brook Men’s Shelter, was a Life Member Porterville VFW Post #2001, Life Member Terra Bella American Legion Post #779, Porterville Eagles Lodge Fraternal Order #1351 Porterville High School Boosters Assoc., Porterville Senior Council, St. Anne’s Knights of Columbus, Board of Directors St. Vincent de Paul, Porterville’s St. Anne’s Catholic Church and was honored as 1992 Porterville Chamber of Commerce “Man of the Year”.
Roy was preceded in death by his first wife, Charlotte Rockholt in 1980 and wife second wife, Palmira Rockholt in 1997. Surviving family includes Goddaughter Susan Dominguez of Porterville, companion Elsie McCall, daughter Katherine Blakesley of Fremont, Stepchildren Danny Rich, Charlotte Rich, Joseph Salazar, Johnny Salazar, Maria Roberts, Cathleen Peters also his adopted son and daughter Ruben and Carolyn Shaw. Several grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.
Visitation will be held 2:00pm to 6:00pm Tuesday September 22, at Whitehurst-Peters-Loyd Chapel with the Recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 6:00pm.
A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated 11:00am Wednesday September 23, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church followed by interment at the Porterville Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery.
