Rosa C. Gutierrez
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Rosa C. Gutierrez, age 82 and a 43 year resident of Porterville passed away September 24, 2008 in Porterville.
Rosa was born May 3, 1926 at Goliad, TX to Pablo and Maria Garcia. She was raised on the border of Brownsville, TX and Matamoros, Mexico and it was here that she met Aniceto Gutierrez and to whom she married April 14, 1944 at Matamoros. Rosa and Aniceto moved to Porterville in 1964 and it was here that Rosa devoted herself to being the best wife and mother she could for her growing family. She loved being with her family and enjoyed hosting and preparing meals for anyone and everyone who happened by.
Many people in the Porterville area may also remember her for the 12 years she founded and cooked at the family restaurant named El Tapatio on Teapot Dome Road.
Rosa attended St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Porterville and was preceded in death by her son Eddie “Lalo” Gutierrez in 1980.
Surviving family includes her husband Aniceto of Porterville; 5 Sons Gilbert & wife Leticia of Porterville, Fernando and wife Linda of Visalia, Rosendo and wife Katie of Porterville, Sergio and wife Lupita of Los Angeles and George and wife Alicia of Porterville; 4 daughters Maria Sandoval of Porterville, Lilia Alvarez and husband Romel of Bakersfield, Rosa Vasquez and husband Rene of Graham, Washington and Eugenia Salcido and husband Epi of Fresno; 1 sister Rosa Gonzalez of Brownsville TX; and 31 grandchildren; and 26 great grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28, at Whitehurst-Peters-Loyd Chapel and a Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m. A Mass will be Celebrated 9:00 a.m. Monday, September 29, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Porterville and interment will follow at the Porterville District Cemetery.
