The truth of the matter is that Measure J has only one thing in mind and that is to improve the quality of education for the students of Porterville.
The average assessed tax value for a home in Porterville is somewhere in the area of $100,000. Based on that figure your “New Tax” cost to make a difference in this community would come to 13 cents a day. This money, by the way, can only be used on projects approved by a independent citizens oversight committee.
Is it worth it? The answer in my opinion is yes, very much so.
