No arrests made in reported rape
Porterville police have yet to make an arrest in a reported rape that occurred Saturday.
The Porterville Police Department reports that at 7:44 p.m., officers responded to a Porterville home regarding a sexual assault report. The alleged victim told police an unknown Hispanic man in his early 20s picked her up in the area of Prospect Street and Mulberry Avenue after offering her a ride home.
The victim accepted the ride, and on their way to her home, the man reportedly began driving in a different direction. She told the man to turn around and drop her off but he refused, police said.
The man then allegedly drove the victim to an orange grove, where he raped her after she tried to get away, police said.
After raping the victim, the man drove her to an intersection and dropped her off, the PPD reports.
She walked home and called police.
Police located the crime scene and collected physical evidence. Detectives assumed the investigation and later met with the woman at Sierra View District Hospital.
A detailed suspect description was provided by the victim and a “Be On The Lookout” advisory was completed.
The case is still under investigation.
