Man found unconscious in field

A man found lying on the ground in the 1100 block of West Grand Avenue at 11 p.m. Saturday is in critical condition at Central Valley Regional Medical Center and police are seeking the person who assaulted the man.

Police went to the location on a reporter of a disturbance and a male subject lying on the ground. Officers arrived shortly thereafter and located an unconscious male subject in the dirt field on the north side of the 1100 block of West Grand Avenue.

The victim was breathing; however, he was unconscious and had apparent head trauma. Witnesses were contacted in the area and reported hearing some type of fight. The victim was transported by ambulance to the Fresno hospital and he was listed as being in critical condition.

Detectives with the Porterville Police Department were summoned to the scene and have assumed the investigation. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the Porterville Police Department.
