Robert Doyle Phillips

THE PORTERVILLE RECORDER

Robert Doyle Phillips was born on July 9, 1936 in Antlers, OK.  Surrounded by family, Robert joined our Lord on Wednesday, June 25, 2008 in Strathmore, after a lengthy battle with cancer.

A Graveside service will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park on Monday, July 7th at 10:00 a.m.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Mary and Raymond Phillips.  Also, his beautiful and loving wife of 24 years, Dorothy (Skee) Childers. 

Robert was a devout Cubs Fan, never missed a game. He also loved to play Keno, Whiskey Pete’s was his favorite place and he always loved his garden.

Robert was in the Air Force stationed at Travis Air Force Base, California. He retired from Kawia Cold Storage in Exeter in 1999.

He is survived by his four brothers, Roy Phillips of Lebonon, OR, Tom Phillips of Myrtle Creek, OR, Jerry Phillips of Porterville, CA, Kenny Phillips of Visalia, CA; two sisters, Shirley Waldrum of Magalia, CA and Carolyn Newcomb of Ceres, CA;  two step-sons, Mark and Eric Shanklin, both of Santa Rosa; two grand daughters; six great grandchildren and a very special person who was his care giver and very loving niece, (Pody) Betty Burton.
