Against Measure J

Editor,

I have to give John Hardin credit. He is voicing a troubling concern over more taxes/borrowing from the future. If you like him or not is not the issue.

Certainly there are people who run the Porterville Unified School District who do not. I appreciate his effort to get the information out in the open about such a huge debt the people of Porterville will be carrying on their backs for decades.

I, for one, do not believe that they should be asking for such a huge chunk of money on top of what they already receive. Can’t they figure out how to do improvements gradually? Why haven’t they planned it better? Shouldn’t expansion and improvement come with the influx of money generated by new students?

Figure it out. One day at a time just like everyone else. Additionally, maybe the district needs a different set of people who will make better choices concerning money.

No matter what, I am voting no on Measure J because I don’t need any more taxes.
