Dog park

I am working with a growing number of Porterville citizens to encourage and support the City Council and Department of Parks and Leisure to establish a dog park in our community.

I recently attended and spoke at the Parks and Leisure Services Commissioners’ meeting, and also met with Mr. Donnie Moore, director of the department. I am pleased and encouraged by the exchange with the commissioners and also with the preliminary yet thoughtful cooperation that Mr. Moore has provided.
At this stage, we are focusing on spreading the word about our effort and building community support.

Towards that end, we will have a table set up at the Kids Fest this weekend (March 23rd) to allow community members to exchange ideas and add their name to the support list. We also have set up a Facebook page where people can also view our efforts and get involved. Just search for “Porterville Dog Park Supporters.”
