Monache High School student Clarita Alcantar who came to the aid of a fellow student who was choking on a piece of food and was able to dislodge the food and get the student breathing again.
Members of the Porterville Junior Fair Board who worked so hard to put on the Sierra Winter Classic at the fairgrounds last weekend.
Local wrestlers Matt Gamble of Monache High School and Mason Pengilly of Porterville High School continue to deserve recognition. Gamble was the top wrestler at the CIT Wrestling Tournament at Morrow Bay and Pingilly won his weight class at the Five Counties Wrestling Tournament in Fountain Valley. Also to Monache’s Seth Hall who won his weight class.
Trinity Lutheran Church that donated $2,772 to the Porterville Area Coordinating Council and Helping Hands of Porterville.
Former Porterville High baseball standout and major league player Thad Reece who has become the head baseball coach at Granite Hills High School.
Porterville native Adrian Avila who had a busy week as a makeup artist and eyebrow specialist at an exclusive salon in Washington, D.C., and attended to many dignitaries preparing for this week’s inauguration.
The Tulare County District Attorney’s office that presented a check of $6,000 to the Central California Family Crisis Center was proceeds from its Justice Run.
Newly elected Tule River Tibal Council members Judy Nieto, Lucy Rodilez, Freda Carothers, Betsey Foote, Raymond flores, Mary Hermieo, Fred Peyron and James Diaz.
The California Scholastic Federation club members from Harmony Magnet Academy that assisted the city in cleaning up Murry Park.
Bryan Rojas who has been named head softball coach at Granite Hills High School.
Lindsay High School girls varsity soccer player Jannelly Rangel who set a school record with a remarkable 9 goals scored in the Cardinals 10-0 win over Corcoran.
