FNHC parking issue

Editor,

I want to thank Mr. Larry McKelvy for the feedback in regards to the parking at our Porterville campus.
According to the letter, Mr. McKelvy is “fed up with the run around that I [he] have gotten from the Family HealthCare Network and the city as well, as the county and the city police dealing with the parking at the facility located on Halsey Street and Poplar Avenue.”

As far as I know, Mr. McKelvy has not contacted anyone at Family HealthCare Network to discuss his concerns with us. Had he done so, he would have found out that we intend to add 31 parking stalls to the site, bringing the total number of parking spaces in our parking lot to 231 stalls. The cost of this additional parking is about $328,000 due to land acquisition and construction costs, and the project should be completed by May 31, 2013.

Family HealthCare Network has grown into the largest primary health care provider in Tulare County over the years and we have always been challenged with adding the human resources, facilities and grounds we need to stay up with the demand on our system.

We appreciate feedback from our neighbors and the people we serve, but it usually is more effective if we’re contacted directly with the feedback. We want to continue being a good neighbor and a “provider of choice” in the future, and it is helpful to know where we can improve in these areas.
