THE PORTERVILLE RECORDER

Maggie Evelyn Harrison passed away at her home in Porterville on Sunday, December 6, 2009 at the age of 89.  
Evelyn was born July 30, 1920 in Bolivar, Missouri.  She was the youngest of nine children born to Joseph and Alma Conner.  The family came to Porterville, California on the train in 1923 when Evelyn was 3 years old.  She went to Alta Vista School as well as schools in Goshen and Exeter.  She graduated from Porterville High School in 1938.  She worked as a bookkeeper for Farmers Insurance Group, the Pontiac Garage and at Cones Automotive for many years.
Evelyn married William Harrison March 9, 1958 in Reno, Nevada.  After retirement they took numerous trips in their motor home to the beach, and also the mountains of Colorado and Missouri.  


Evelyn loved gardening and visiting with family and friends.  She attended the First Assembly Of God Church in Porterville.


She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Bill.  She is survived by one nephew, Dennis Conner of Porterville and five nieces, Bette-Jean Crawford of Dinuba, Karla Foy of Newbern, North Carolina, Barbara Fletcher of Bakersfield, Jolene Jones of Dinuba and Beverly Surber of Springville.  She had eleven great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 10th from 1:00 PM to 5:00PM at Myers Chapel.  A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, December 11th at 11:00 AM at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
