Corcoran gets best of Lindsay on 2 courts

The Lindsay girls' tennis team fell 6-3 to Corcoran, Thursday night, falling to 0-6 in ESL play.

Lindsay's wins came from No. 4 singles player Joanna Castro, the No. 1 doubles team of Amanda Romero and Jenna Fulton and No. 3 doubles team Evelyn Cortes and Dulce Diaz. 

Castro beat Tanya Rios 8-6, Fulton and Romero topped Vanessa Medina and Lydia Gonzalez 8-5 while Cortez-Diaz downed the Anabel Reynoso-Lisa Lui team 8-7 (7-5).

Lindsay JV tennis also lost to the Panthers and are now 4-2 in league play.

Both squads face Strathmore at 4 p.m., Tuesday.

 

Volleyball: Corcoran 3, Lindsay 1

The Panthers took games one, two and four en route to a league win, Thursday night in Lindsay.

Lindsay won the third game 25-13 while losing 25-18, 25-15 and 25-22 in the remaining games.

The Blue sisters were once again the offensive and defensive leaders, as freshman Kennedy smashed a team-high 11 kills and blocked seven shots while junior Lindsay had eight kills and three blocks.

Brittany Gutierrez led the Cards with 24 assists and had four aces with libero Alexis Arguelles rounding out the leaders with 37 digs and a team-high five aces.

Lindsay's JV Volleyball beat the Lady Panthers in two games with the freshmen team losing in two.

The Cardinals travel south to Strathmore for their first ESL match with the rival Spartans at 7 p.m., Tuesday night.
