Collect Payolla?
Editor,
In a reply to a letter from Mr. Rick Elkins, Mr. Reggie Cornejo stated a few facts, valid points. But he totally missed the point of the first letter. Kids do not have role models in today’s pols. They do what they want, to get what they want, any way they can. This is true of the pols and a lot of the kids.
Mr. Elkins was bringing out the point that cities are “money poor” right now. And the voters won’t or can’t afford to keep shoveling money to them. So after cries of “more” from the cities are voted down, the pols do what they do best: fine you to death. Not one city, county or state employee got a pay cut. So with less money coming in, they change the laws (up the fines and “processing fees”) to generate more.
The word “cop” stood for “Constable On Patrol”. Now it is “Collect Our Payolla”. For this I blame the pols and lawyers.
