Unhappy with article

Editor,

My name is Katelynn Grzybek, I’m the niece of Daniel Grzybek. I speak on behalf of my uncle’s loved ones when I say the article published on Saturday entitled “A cry for help” was highly offensive, especially considering the fact that the story ran on the day of his funeral.

Those of us attending my uncle’s funeral felt as though the article tarnished my uncle’s memory as well as our day of mourning. His suicide was a family matter that was not to be shared with the city of Porterville.

The article title alone is juvenile and misleading. For being a front page story, it is not written well. It’s not an ode to my uncle’s memory, it’s a vague summary of his death that gets transitioned into statistics and other irrelevant information.

My uncle’s death isn’t just some convenient story for the Porterville Recorder to exploit, it’s a tragedy and my family deserves to mourn in peace.
