PC baseball beats West Hills

The Porterville College baseball team scored seven runs all after there were two outs in the second inning on its way to an 11-7 win over West Hills in its Central Valley Conference opener on Tuesday at Pirate Stadium.

Andrew Lopez had a two-run double, Nate Crocker, Kyle Gilbreath and Aaron Gray all singled and Dean Burkett doubled after there were two outs as PC (4-7, 1-0) took a 7-0 lead. Portville led by as much as 11-2 before holding off West Hills.

Winning pitcher Ryan Luna allowed three runs over six innings while striking out five. Rick Roeder retired the side in order in the ninth, striking out five.

Porterville banged out 14 hits in the win. James Lopez had three hits, Andrew Lopes and Burkett each had two hits, including a double, Crocker had two hits, Jordan Porras doubled, Robby Bonanno and Dominic Chavez each had a hit and Gray added an RBI sacrifice fly for PC.
