Highway 190 reprieve

Editor,
For a while at least, the 10 to 20 minute waits on Highway 190 coming in to Porterville from Springville are over. Don’t worry. They’ll be back come spring, which is when Caltrans intends to do more “much-needed improvements” on this road.

The only lasting change, other than a few drainage culverts, I can see are the “Construction Zone” signs that are still there, and will remain there for at least another year.

Oh, and not to worry, even if Caltrans has taken a break, the CHP hasn’t. Even if there is no construction going on, the mere fact that it is posted as a “Construction Zone” doubles any traffic fines that are issued in that area. So, I guess the best good thing Caltrans did was to ensure a better income for the CHP.
