Measure J and John Hardin

Editor,
At first I was encouraged to read that someone is advocating open debates and dialogue about how the District would spend the tax dollars from Measure J.

Then I read that Mr. Hardin touts the Burton District because they financed with grants. Grants that don’t require a penny of tax revenue locally.

Where does he think grant money comes from? Burton’s $80 million may not be coming from my right pocket but it’s coming from one of my pockets. Ultimately there is only one source for public money and that’s the taxpayer.

Grants, bonds, or general fund, it all comes from the taxpayer.

I cannot imagine there being any substance to dialogue and/or debates with someone who does not understand this.
