Mention all
Editor,
I am writing this letter in regards to the front page story on Valentine’s Day sales. Now born and raised in this small community, I have seen stores come and go, and today in this small town we only have two flower shops, and maybe five or six jeweler’s and only one candy shop.
So how does The Recorder, do a story of sales on Valentine’s Day the day after, and only write of one flower shop and one jeweler.
In the past The Recorder has done this to the two fabric shops, only an article of one and not even a mention of the other.
If Porterville wants the community to spend their money here, in our town, then write and mention all jewelers, mention the other flower shop. How do these shops have a chance to survive without the help of The Recorder, or did these stores that were mentioned pay you.
Well, then shame on you for not being fair.
So here is a shout out for Smith’s Flowers. I loved the roses my husband ordered from you for me, and Mitchell’s Jeweler’s thank you for the new battery you replaced at no charge.

(Editor’s note: No one paid to be mentioned. We have only so much time and could only speak with a couple of the shops. We do try to spread that around and will be more attentive to that in the future.)
