PC women fall to Fresno; PC men fall to COS

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
FRESNO 80, PC 48
Fresno City showed why it’s the state’s No. 2 ranked team with its win at Porterville College.
Porterville was hurt by 20 turnovers in the first half as Fresno built a 41-22 lead. PC did a better job of taking care of the ball in the second half, committing only eight turnovers. “I was happy with the effort,” PC coach Dave Kavern said.

But Kavern also said about Fresno, “they just keep coming at you in waves and they pound it inside. They play a very physical style of game.”

Alia Alvarez had 10 points and two assists, Maribel Bravo had eight points and 10 rebounds, Destiny Zarate and Nayeli Colunga each had eight points and Eva Gutierrez added seven points for PC. For Fresno, Monache graduate Jenae Alcantar hit three three-pointers and was 4-of-4 from the foul line on her way to scoring 13 points. Fellow Monache graduate Dominique Pilkinton scored eight points for Fresno.

MEN’S BASKETBALL
