Pet therapy
Editor,
I am the coordinator for the Tulare County Chapter of Paws 4 Healing. We are an affiliate of “Pet Partners,” formerly called “Delta Society Pet Partners.” Our members have a passion for helping people through the human-animal health connection. Moment by moment, touch by touch, we use our specially trained and registered pets to bring comfort, motivation, affection, inspiration, hope and assisted therapy to those we visit in hospitals, nursing homes, schools, etc.
If you have a pet you feel may qualify, have the same passion to volunteer and the time to commit several mornings a month, we are offering a Pet Partners Therapy Animal Handler Course. It will be on Saturday, April 6, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The course is for the handler, the human end of the leash. This course is also open to those who may not have a pet but would like to help us with hospital visits (taking care of towels, and hand sanitizing) and other Paws 4 Healing events.
The fee is $100. This includes the student manual for the handler course, the course, help in preparing for evaluation and the evaluation.
Before calling me, please check our web site at www.paws4healing.info to see if this is a good fit for you and your pet. Seating is limited. Thank you. Information, 359-6169.
