Parking lot
Editor,
Mr. Langford’s problem with the city of Porterville over his parking lot across from the post office is very interesting. If the city is so concerned about the appearance of a parking lot the city needs to look at the city parking lot behind the Cellar and Edwards Gallery.
This was a poorly designed parking lot from the beginning. First, they put the irrigation system under the trees and not deep enough to make the trees go down for water. Then they planted the wrong trees and the roots destroyed the irrigation system.
The exits into the alley were square and not rounded, and larger vehicles have to go over the curbing or hit the buildings.
Presently, the city has put up a tow-away area that has been in existence for three weeks. The city is “picky” with others but over look their own shortcomings. I am sure there are other situations like this in Porterville that need to be exposed.
