Schools not supportive

Editor,

As I read the Letters to the Editor today (Friday, Oct. 12) I was offended by comments from Mr. John Inns. As a local businessman, I would like to know where my mattress stuffed with cash is.

Maybe if PUSD didn’t spend this money on insurance for the board, I would not have so many students asking me to donate my mattress money to the schools.

Mr. Inns says he will gladly give $45 per $100,000 (assessed value) to support local schools. I wish that’s all I could give.

Ask anyone who knows Horowitz Jewelry and they will tell you we give much more than $45. So support the kids, we do.

Too bad PUSD doesn’t support us. I have tried to give more money to the schools through a program to sell class rings and give back 20% of the gross sales to the schools. Still to this day, my calls have been unanswered.

I am only a local businessman who supports all the schools. I am not Josten’s who is based elsewhere.

So please, Mr. Jon Inns, think before you write your letters and step on other people who support your children and grandchildren more than you are willing to.
