Gas prices

Editor,

I’m writing because of “ridiculous” increase in gas at local businesses in this “All American City.” Monday 10/1 - “Applegates” on corner of Putnam and Newcomb price per gallon gas - $4.15 - Tuesday 10/2 - $4.35 - Wednesday 10/3 - $4.45 and today, Thursday 10/4,>$4.65. Monday gas at T&C Market (Olive Ave) $4.55 per gal.

Sure oil companies/refineries supply the gas at cost to these businesses but it is the “owner” that puts the “price” at the pumps. This sudden increase here is due to an oil refinery on West Coast that caught on fire in February? In February. It could affect gas prices “unique” to West Coast (possible shortage) and gas could go as high as $4.45 per gallon.

I would ask the “owners” if they are obligated to purchase gas from this company? There are refineries elsewhere. Lindsay has gas today at the “Arco” AM/PM off Highway 65 at $4.19 per gal. Really? I say to all businesses with gas pumps, today and everyday that gas prices remain high, you have and will continue to lose money by that I mean today: Our truck, our money went to Lindsay, yesterday $100 in gas again went to Lindsay. I have encouraged everyone I know (and those I don’t) to travel the 12 miles to Lindsay for gas. Prices at “our” pumps is an outrage.
