Tired of being harassed

THE PORTERVILLE RECORDER

Editor,

I’m writing this concerning the continuous harassment by the Porterville Police Department. I have been pulled over on my bicycle several times in the last few months for no particular reason. I was on my way home from the gym, not doing anything wrong, when a PPD car passed me never Beverly Street. He turned around and I immediately got off my bike and followed the officer’s orders, not wanting to be the next victim of an officer shooting an innocent man.

The officer ran my name for warrants and when it cam back clean he continued to harass me, search my backpack and take pictures of me.

It’s come to a point where you can’t even ride a bicycle down the road without being stopped.

My heartfelt condolences go out to the family of Vince Steen who I feel was killed for no reason. The harassment needs to stop before another innocent man’s life is cut short.
