City council to hear budget update
The Lindsay City Council will hear several financial issues this week as Director of Finance Tamara Laken will update the council on budget matters. The first will be a budget update and request for a formal approval of budget amendments through June 30, 2012. The second will be a financial highlight report for the 2010-2012 fiscal year. The latter involves information on housing assistance activity, business assistance loans and revenue and expense summary reports for unadjusted and major funds only. A third financial matter concerns a school resource officer. Back in July of 2012 the council authorized the submittal of an application to the State Community Development Block Grant Program or (CDBG) to use up to $100,000, in program income from the business assistance revolving loan account, for a school resource officer for the Lindsay Unified School District. As of September 12, the application was granted.
However, the council must now hold a hearing to approve the funds which will come from a CDBG PI waiver.
Other business includes;
a request by Mike Camarena, city services director, for council consideration and prioritizing of street projects.
The Lindsay City Council is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 251 E. Honolulu St., Lindsay.
