Citrus' Cristian Perez, Robert Ward selected students of the month
Two Citrus High School students have been named Porterville Rotary’s Student of the Month for the months of December and January.
Cristian Perez, a senior at Citrus, was chosen as the January Rotary student of month, and Robert Ward, a junior at Citrus, was chosen as the December Rotary student of the month.
Christian Perez
Perez began Citrus at the beginning of this school year as a senior. He immediately began working diligently to make up credits for his graduation requirements, school officials said.
All of his teachers agree that Perez is a conscientious, responsible and well disciplined student that understands that hard work pays off, officials said, with a work ethic that will allow him to graduate on time with his class.
When relaxing, Perez said he enjoys reading, playing basketball and riding skateboards, but his real passion in life is music. He said he loves to create rap music that focuses on issues currently affecting society. After graduation, Perez plans on attending Porterville College and pursuing his lifelong dream of creating meaningful music for people to contemplate and enjoy for years to come.
Robert Ward
Robert Ward is on an accelerated track to graduate in 2014.
Son of Robert and Tricia Ward, Robert Ward has participated in the construction of many of Citrus High School’s vocational facilities, including the greenhouse, chicken houses, roofed work area, gardens, concrete construction and in the new facility that will assist in the physical activity classes.
“Robert is an excellent worker, uses and maintains tools and power equipment safely, and certainly puts his all into his projects. He also works part time in a local tire shop and is certainly learning his trade,” school officials said. “We at Citrus High congratulate Robert and encourage him to keep up the great work. We need more vocationally minded students to maintain us in the future.”
