Letter-To-The Editor: Shopping carts ‘filthy'

THE PORTERVILLE RECORDER

I am a regular shopper at Save Mart Supermarket. With money being tight, I thought I could save a little money and shop at Food 4 Less.

My first trip I noticed that the shopping carts were not very clean. Let me put it this way, they are the filthiest carts I have seen at a grocery store!  I tried not to let it bother me, I took a cart from outside, pulled the first cart, second and third, until I got a decent one.

I took out my disinfectant wipes and wiped the handle clean and went about shopping.

On the second trip my toddler was with me, and I was afraid to put him or my food in the cart.

It was not until then that I noticed how grimy and unsanitary the carts really were. I pulled the first cart, second and third etc., until about cart No. 10 and wiped it. I then spoke to the manager on duty.

She informed me the carts were washed every two weeks.  I can honestly say that it looks as if they have never been washed.

I will NOT be visiting Food 4 Less again. Save Mart is my supermarket choice.

I do not mind spending little more money. They are always clean and have whatever I need in stock.

At the entrance they even have wipes to clean your carts. This is especially important due to the H1N1 virus.
