Pit bull terriers
Editor,
I am an owner of a wonderful pit bull terrier who happens to be a very obedient and loving animal. I have to say that that there are bad dogs in every breed and it is really in how you raise them.
I think that we would have stricter laws and most importantly mandatory spay and neuter laws in place this would help with the overpopulation problem that we have with all breeds.
I personally have never been bitten by a pit bull, but I have been bitten a few times by a small dog. I think that all dogs can have the potential to be mean and a threat to people.
Banning the breed is wrong. It would be like if we decided a certain race of people did more bad things in society so lets just ban the race; they are all bad.
I love my dog. She is a great dog. She is well cared for, loved, very social and good with people. She is a 4-year-old American pit bull terrier.
I think as a community we should come together to help create more awareness of the wrongful acts that are being done with this breed, such as fighting. To come down on the people who are ignorant to be fighting them and let’s get them prosecuted, stop the cruelty and inhumane treatment of these animals and make a positive change. It starts with us, the community, being educated and removing the negative stigma that comes along with the name pit bull, because not all of them are bad.
