Sets them apart
Editor,
Responding to the article about Sensei Terry Banes and Red Sun Dojo. My family and I train under Senei Banes.
Just a few notes: achieving a black belt is difficult and an honor in itself. Sensei Banes is a 3rd degree black belt and should be given the proper respect for that achievement.
The article also stated there were three levels of black belt. Currently, the highest ranking black belt in the Shotokan Karate Federation Sensei Banes follows is 10th degree. There are three levels of brown belt before achieving a black belt.
What Sensei Banes teaches his students goes far beyond just self-defense and fighting, being examples in class and community and being a positive influence are what set Sensei Banes and Red Sun Shotokan Karate Dojo apart from the rest and why he has been in business for 20 years. Thank you.
