Tribute to brother-in-law

Editor,
This article written by Esther Avila is absolutely repulsive. I have two questions for Ms. Avila; Had this been a family member or friend of yours would you have written an article such as this? Would you had released it on the day of their memorial?

My brother-in-law Danny was so much more than an “avid sports fan”. Let me describe the man I knew and loved.

Danny had the most charismatic smile that lit up any room he entered. He knew and taught me what unconditional love is.

He was a very trustworthy man, if you told him something in confidence he would never tell another living soul.

He told silly jokes and even if they were not funny he had you laughing because he thought they were hilarious.

He never lied or cheated.

He had a sensitivity about him that few men (or women) have. He cared and loved so much for people that he opened up his home for loved ones in time of need. If he noticed you were down he did everything in his power to make you feel happy.

These are just a few qualities Danny had and none of it was included in the article.

If this was supposed to be an article about suicide prevention, why doesn’t anyone say what steps they took to prevent Dan’s suicide? The people in this article took absolutely no preventative measures, and a good reporter would’ve done her research.
