Richard R. Anderson, Sr.
Richard R. Anderson, Sr., died in Porterville on September 16, 2007. He was 86.
He was born in San Jose, California in 1921.
He was a mechanical engineer, self-employed and enjoyed his work. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Marine Corp as a medic. He received the Purple Heart. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars #5067 of Madera, CA.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2007 at 4:00 p.m. at the Anderson residence in Porterville, CA.
He is survived by his wife, Muriel of Porterville, CA. They were married for over 27 years. He is also survived by two sons, Richard A. Anderson, of Keene, CA, Richard R. Anderson, Jr. of Orangevale, CA and step-sons, Kelly Werrell of Oklahoma City, OK, David DuRee of San Juan Capistrano, CA; six daughters, Allison Olswald of Grass Valley, CA, Suzanne McPherson of Sonora, CA, Carolyn Hammill of Rough and Ready, CA, Patti Hill of Marongo, Ohio, Janis Rudy of Nevada, Cheri Kaylor of Orangevale, CA; two step-daughters, Vikki DuRee-Ferriss of Healdsburg, CA and Melissa Morse of Union City, CA; brothers, Ernest Anderson of Campbell, CA, Daniel Anderson of Oregon; four sisters, Sophie Fresquez of Oregon, Helen Reed, Ramona Cox and Eleanor Torres of Roseville, CA; numerous grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and many great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cindy McGuire in 2006.
